A love story and no VHS tapes https://www.loudrockstudio.com/blog/2018/9/alovestory-no-vhs-tapes Below is a photo of my wedding film, a stack of VHS tapes documenting my wedding day via a camcorder used by a family member or placed on a tripod. A film that very few people, including myself have even watched.  I suppose I should convert them at some point.

In contrast, the wedding films that I love and create are real, full of emotion, they move.  They are truly a short film that connects you to the details, the laughter, the tears, the joy.  It somewhat places you in the moment and you can feel what the bride, groom and their guests were feeling.

I love the emotion of a wedding and to be able to capture that is like nothing else.  This summer I launched Reverie & Wonder Wedding Films by Loudrock Studio (me).  My goal is to provide cinematic wedding films that amaze.

Reverie and Wonder encapsulates how I feel about weddings.....

rev·er·ie
/rev(ə)rē/ - a state of being pleasantly lost in one's thoughts; a daydream.

won·der
/wəndər/ - feel admiration and amazement; marvel.

I'm so excited to create these films and tell love stories. This is my most recent summer wedding film.  Brock & Chanda were amazing and their love was shining all day long!

Enjoy!

Aleks

Digital Storytelling https://www.loudrockstudio.com/blog/2018/1/digital-storytelling Digital stories can take many forms, but the most common types include video, interactive websites, online games, and podcasts. One of the best ways to engage your customers is to show them what you are all about.  Reading about something or someone is great but seeing & hearing them is even better. Video transforms static content into something alive.

I worked with a local company this past summer to create a video about the business. Jodi Farr, the owner of Big Town Threads was great to work with. I wanted to capture what she does and share her talents with others.... storytelling. We had a lot of fun shooting her video.

Check out the completed video story of Big Town Threads.. enjoy.

The importance of a professional headshot https://www.loudrockstudio.com/blog/2018/1/the-importance-of-a-professional-headshot You are the face of your business and profession, that is why having a professional headshot is essential. It is important to create an individual brand. A selfie just won't cut it if you want to be taken seriously, trust me, I broke down myself this winter to be photographed for my own business. I learned first hand how uncomfortable it is to have your photo taken when the focus is you. You worry about your smile, your bad side, your hair. These are natural emotions that we all have. The good part is that it turns out ok, you live!

So what should you think about when getting your professional headshot?

#1 - Clothing

Be you! If you wear bright colors, wear them. If you like a traditional look, go with that. In the fall & winter scarves and sweaters can add interest to your photos. If you have a favorite red dress or tie, go for it!

#2 - Relax

Take a deep breath and relax. I like to talk to clients a lot while photographing them. If you feel comfortable, it will come through in your photographs. This is much easier than getting dental work so smile and let that personality shine through, it is ok to laugh out loud!

#3 Multiple looks

You want to have multiple looks that you can use for social media or self promotion throughout the year. I always recommend 2-3 outfits so that you have choices. You may want a fun look as well as a more serious look. Think about what you want to convey in your headshot. Are you a creative professional and want to show off your relaxed, fun side? Are you a business professional that wants a great photo for social media and company website?

A headshot has a shelf life of 1-2 years. Always use a photo that is up-to-date, you may like that photo of you when you were 25 but people want to see you now.

You can visit me and view my work at www.loudrockstudio.com

Of course I will include one of my recent branding shots with my fun flaring pants. ;)

Family Sessions What to Wear https://www.loudrockstudio.com/blog/2016/10/family-sessions-what-to-wear Fall is in the air and family photo session season is here!  The most asked question is "what should we wear?"  Well, I'm here to help you out.  I want to make sure you look and feel your best for your session.  This post will help you come up with the perfect combination!

1. Layers
Layers create visual interest and will keep you warm and cozy.  Think tights, cardigans, jackets, and scarves.

2. Color
Choose two main hues you love, and develop your color scheme around them. Use the brightest color — also known as the accent color — sparingly. Patterns are ok, choose one or two family members to wear a pattern and everyone else choose a color that ties everyone together.

3. Accessories!
Jewelry, hair bows, flowers, scarves, boot socks are all fun additions that add texture and interest to photos.

4. BE YOU!
This is the most important tip.  Wear something that you like and are comfortable in. If you wear something that is itchy. too big or small, it will show in your expressions, we don't want that. ;-)  Have fun!

If you are having trouble coordinating your outfits, don’t worry, I am here to help!  Good luck and I look forward to seeing what you have picked out!
